Have you ever heard of Cockney Rhyming Slang? It is slang made-up of rhymes which originated in the East End of London during the 1840s. Many terms are still in use today! For example, ‘Adam and Eve’ is used to mean ‘believe’ – one could say ‘I couldn’t Adam and Eve it’. And if you want to talk about your hair you can say, ‘barnet fair’!
