Countries that have no connection to a sea or ocean are so called "landlocked" countries. In total 42 countries in the world are landlocked. In general being landlocked has slowed development of countries down. Having no connection to a sea or ocean blocks the means of transport and trade but also slowed down countries in terms of food production (fishing).
