Interesting fact:

The author wrote the sonnet ‘Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?’ as part of a sequence of poems about a young man whom he was infatuated with. Although he was known as a married man, it wasn’t until his deeply personal sonnets were published that we learned more about his love for both men and women. Understandably, he did not want his sonnets to be published while he was living as he feared being subject to the stricter laws which governed society during that period. Sonnet 18 is now known as the greatest love poem in the English language.
