Interesting fact:
Ever wondered why doves are a symbol of love and peace? The dove was thought to represent love because Greek mythology chose that bird to symbolize Aphrodite, the goddess of love. There was also a superstition in the Middle Ages that doves chose their mates on Valentine’s Day. Doves are very caring of their offspring and the males help the females to raise their young – unlike many other birds. This gave them the reputation of being devoted and loving. This didn’t always work out so well for the doves! Many medieval love potions called for the heart of a dove as an essential ingredient.
