How much do you know about the spleen? This little-discussed organ sits just under the left side of the rib cage where it filters blood through your body and controls the production of red blood cells. It both reshapes misshapen blood cells that pass through it and blocks cells which are damaged beyond repair from circulation. You can actually live without your spleen but you may be much more prone to infections.
