The longest recorded case in medical history is Charles Osborne, a farmer from Ohio, who hiccuped for 68 years. It turned out that they were caused by a large, burst blood vessel in his brain. Physicians who studied his case estimated that he hiccuped some 595,680,000 times over his lifetime!
