Did you know that chocolate used to be used as money? It was invented in Mexico in 1900 BCE and become so valuable that the Mayans and Aztecs used the cocoa as money. The majority of Mesoamerican people drank chocolate drinks and called it xocolātl – a word meaning ‘bitter water’.
