Contrary to your primary school lessons, the angles of a triangle do not always add up to 180°. This can occur when the triangle is measured on a curved space, like on a horse saddle. Since the lines are not “straight”, the total degrees when measured will be less than 180°, or conversely over 180° when the shape is curved outwardly like a sphere.
