Not all legends of mythical beasts are ancient. The Loveland frog from Ohio was first described in 1955 as a humanoid frog, standing erect at 1.2 metres, conversing with its peers and scaring observers away with a wand that sprays sparkles. An incident in 1972 revealed that the creature was an iguana that had lost its tail.
