Les Nabis was a group of Post-Impressionist artists that was based on the philosophy of Paul Gauguin. The group insisted on the flatness of the canvas, which went on to dominant later modernist painting. The movement was considered by many to be cutting edge, and its members admired the outlines of Japanese prints.
