Japanese-American artist Iwao Takamoto drew the original sketches for Scooby and the Gang. Scooby is based on inverting all the distinguished features of a Great Dane! Instead of a straight back, straight legs, and a small chin, Scooby has a hump back, bowed legs, and a massive chin. He is a breed of dog all of his own!
