Kathy Griffin and Jane Lynch auditioned for the role of Phoebe. Though neither one got the part, the two did become friends in real life after meeting at the audition. Jon Favreau and Jon Cryer were considered for Chandler’s character, which ultimately went to Matthew Perry.
